The C26-G26Q GSM/GPS reference design from u-blox (www.u-blox.com) is a complete, integrated solution for telematics applications such as fleet management, asset tracking, road pricing, and security/surveillance. It demonstrates integrating a u-blox NEO-6Q GPS receiver with a LEON-G200 GPRS/GSM module. This 100% SMT solution uses passive SMT GPS and GSM antennas.
The C26-G26Q supports full access to the NEO-6 via the GPRS/GSM module, allowing GSM and GPS control through a single serial port from any host processor. Optionally the C26-G26Q can be coupled with Microchip¡¯s Multimedia Expansion Board and a PIC32 Starter kit (offered separately by Microchip, see PIC32 Starter Kit website), providing developers with a turn-key platform to begin developing the complete solution.
Features:
? Telematics reference design with LEON-G200 GPRS/GSM and NEO-6 GPS modules ? Integrated GPS and GSM/GPRS antennas (SMT) ? SIM card holder and SIM chip footprint (SIM not included)
? Simplifies developing customer end-products ? Enables faster time-to-market
Differences as compared to the C16-G26Q:
? Larger PCB area (85 x 55mm) ? Connector available for external active antenna (ex. ANN) ? Allows connectivity to Microchip Multimedia Expansion Board
Reference designs are only sold in small quantities, but u-blox provides complete production information and documentation on request.
As GPS and GSM performance heavily depends on the customer`s testing environment, the C26-G26Q is not intended for performance evaluation. The company recommends using its EVK-G26H GSM and EVK-6 GPS evaluation kits for performance evaluation.
