Taiwan - At the Display Taiwan 2012 (www.displaytaiwan.com) opening ceremony, Gold Panel Awards event, a biennial gala for Taiwan FPD industry was held to announce the winners of 2012.

In an attempt to promote the Flat Panel Display (FPD) industry and strengthen the competitive edge of the industry in Taiwan, the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) has held the “Gold Panel Awards” program every year since 2001.

Through the program, the Awards are conferred upon the flat panel display related products and technologies which have proven to be conducive to Taiwan FPD industry, for the betterment of its image and market competitiveness.

Holding this event at Display Taiwan was more momentous than before because top-caliber hopefuls were invited to participate in this significant event.

Because the extraordinary manufacturers, products, technologies and individuals of the FPD industry are awarded in this momentous biennial event, the “Gold Panel Awards” function as a signal to the entire world that Taiwan FPD industry is so robust that nobody can afford to ignore its formidable R&D momentum and competitive edge in the international community.

For the Best Technology Awards, industrial Technology Research Institute Disply Technology Center was awarded with their thin lightweight unbreakble flexible AMOLED with touch technology. As well as the AU Optronics was awarded with their real 257 PPI of 4.3 inch AMOLED.

The winner of the Best Component Awards was E Ink Pearl with their electronic paper display with high contract ratio and ChiLin Optoelectronics with their ink jet light guide backlight in ultra-thin 40-inch LED TV.

Chunghwa Picture Tubes was awarded Best Product Awards for their wireless touch pad. Au Optronics was again awarded Best Product Awards for their 55'' glassess-free QFHD high resolution 3D TV module.

Outstanding Industry Contribution Award was taken by E Ink Holding's chairman, Dr. Scott Liu and Delta Electronics.
