USA - O2Micro International (www.o2micro.com) announced that it was issued 20 claims under United States patent number 8,219,333 for its Battery Management System (BMS) Protection invention.

This patented next generation fault protection system detects battery cell voltages, currents, and temperatures to perform protective actions if a fault condition occurs. A fault condition is an over-voltage, over-current, over-temperature, or short circuit.

"O2Micro's BMS invention ensures that protective actions are performed timely, avoiding damage to the battery pack," said Bill Densham, strategic marketing director at O2Micro.
